MacBook Air 2015 Boot Loop / Half load

Hello,

my MacBook Air 2015 had liquid damage and fell once.

After that I was able to continue using it but only via cable, the battery took a hit from that.

I was able to backup my data, log off my iCloud account and get the laptop ready for sale.

Now it comes to my problem:

A fresh install of Mac OS Big Sur via USB stick almost worked, however, when booting, the problem occurred as it only loads halfway or gets into a boot loop where it starts over and over again.

I suspect that Apple is restrictive against a non-functioning battery, otherwise I can not explain that it still worked before.

Thanks for answers.

Hi LichtenbergM,

Liquid damage to a Mac is unpredictable and can lead to issues both immediately or indeterminate amounts of time down the line.

If the computer has suffered both liquid and impacts damage, and now won't fully complete the reinstall, its likely due to the damage it sustained. Unsure as to your plans for the device, but it'll likely require repair to become fully functional.

We'd advise contacting Apple Support directly for assistance from here.

Take care.

DerekM87, Thanks for the reply.

I can understand that liquid damage has unpredictable damage. However, after die liquid damage and after the fall, the laptop continued to work and I could use it for daily tasks.

Only the reinstallation of the Mac OS brings problems. Apparently, if I had not reinstalled it, there would be no problem.

Is it known that Apple "checks" the hardware during reinstallation and notices that the battery is defective?

Since the kernel is the lowest software layer of the system and has direct access to the hardware. I mean, can't there be a correlation to kernel panic?
