Sidecar won't use the all of my ipad pro's screen.

I have a 2017 macbook pro that I started expanding its screen to my 1st gen ipad pro 12''9 a few days ago.

The first 3 days were great and everything was fine until yesterday when suddenly my iPad started showing two horizontal black bars on top and bottom.

I can't make sidecar to use the whole screen that for some reason, it scales down to a ratio similar to the MacBook pro's screen. Check the first image below.

Moreover when I enable the side bar the ipad's screen gets blurry and I can't move any windows or apps there. Check second image.

Both devices are updated to the latest available version for them.

I use a cable so that the iPad's battery won't drain.

Both devices are logged in the same Apple ID.

Any ideas?

Thank you all in advance!

Howdy mirrsage331,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

Have you tried using a different cable to connect your devices? If not, give that a try to see if this could be related to the cable compatibility.

In addition, check out the following information to see if it helps. You can also locate more details here: Use an iPad as a second display for a Mac - Apple Support

Additional requirements

• Both devices must be signed in with the same Apple ID using two-factor authentication. Sidecar does not support Managed Apple IDs.

• To use Sidecar wirelessly, both devices must be within 10 meters (30 feet) of each other and have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Handoff turned on. Your iPad must not be sharing its cellular connection and your Mac must not be sharing its internet connection.

• To use Sidecar over USB, your iPad must be set to trust your Mac.

If that's not helpful, you'll want to Contact Apple Support directly to check into this in more detail.

Have a great day!

So after digging some more I found another user facing the same issue who used an app called Better Display.

I downloaded it from macupdate, Better-Display .

The app can restore the default ratio and/or change it as well as do some other neat tricks involving your screens.

This is faster than contacting apple.

Thank you for your time and help everyone!
