How do I KEEP low data mode OFF on my wifi-only iPad?

My 12.9” iPad Pro is not cellular, and I never turn on Low Data mode, since it does not, you know, use cellular data. I am always home on my home wifi, with no chance of running out of wifi, so WHY do I go to my mail and have to “tap to download” images or see my Photos app has stopped uploading and synching photos because I am once again on Low Data Mode?

I know how to turn it on and off, and where to go in the settings to do that, I but why do I have to keep doing it? Why is it even on a non-cellular device, and why does it keep coming on by itself, after I repeatedly turn it off?

I believe it’s the former, since the selection is associated with a particular network.

Again, I ask, what is the purpose of a low data mode in an unlimited data situation such as your home wifi on a non-cellular device?

I don’t believe the unlimited data access can be predicted across all Wi-Fi networks. Hotspots are a counter-example.

Yes, thanks, I saw it said “wifi networks you select..” not that such a description is particularly helpful. Select them for what? For specifically going into low data mode?, or select them for using for internet in general? Again, I ask, what is the purpose of a low data mode in an unlimited data situation such as your home wifi on a non-cellular device?

I will change the settings to Notify instead of Ask, but I don’t see how that translates into turn on low data mode all the time, even if I have already turned it off already. Thanks for the help.
