Podcast episodes not publishing on Apple Podcasts

I have a weekly podcast and subscribers are getting new episodes, but when non-subscribers go to my podcast on the Apple podcasts app, the episodes stop in 2021.

Thanks for your help!

As before, the preview web page and subscribing on a Mac show the episodes in the correct order: the feed is correct, with the PubDate and Episode tage correctly entered, so I'm afraid I have no idea what is going on with the phones: it's irrational. O can only suggest you ask in the forum for the iOS Poscasts app, since the problem appears to lie with the app rather than your feed.

Roger, here is more information.

RSS feed: https://feeds.simplecast.com/YDRshZA1

Apple podcasts URL: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jule-kucera-reflections/id1528636816

I unsubscribed from my podcast and cleared my cache so I could see what a non-subscriber sees. The two images below show...

Hello again Roger,

Thank you for continuing to help me troubleshoot this.

I've deleted the links from the notes of every episode. The good news is that all episodes now appear when View All is clicked.

What I don't understand is the order. The episodes that display first are from 2021, and when you click See All, they appear to be in a random order. It takes some scrolling to get to the most current episode:

Do you have any suggestions for what I might do to get them to sort chronologically? This happens not just on iPhones but also on Samsung.

Hi Roger,

I wanted to let you know that the issue has been resolved.

First, I posted on the Apple Podcasts forum. Got lots of views but no responses.

Then, on the advice of Simplecast, my podcast host, I sent an inquiry to: podcastsupport@apple.com. They sent my case to the appropriate internal team for further review.

This afternoon a friend reached out and said it was fixed on his phone. I checked my phone and yes, it is:

Thank you again for your help. It was very useful to tell others what you had already checked (e.g., the RSS feed).

Kind regards,

Jule

That isn't the feed URL but a web site associated with the feed. However I compared the episode list there with what I see in Apple Podcasts (on a Mac) and they are the same, including the latest episode of yesterday, which shows in both Browse (which reads the Podcasts page) and when subscribing (which on a Mac reads the feed directly). I can't check this on an iPhone, not having one.

So I can't see any problem. Any further details of what you see would help, and I need the actual feed URL - the URL you submitted to Podcasts Connect. You can see this on your Podcasts Connect page.

Both the feed and the Apple Podcasts page web preview show the episode ofe August 13 and preceding episodes. You screenshots show an iPhone, and I can't help you there, though I see no reason why it isn't up to date. The phone's app aparently reads the Apple Podcats page and that displays correctly elsewhere.

I checked the feed in the ww3c validator. The results is at

https://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=https%3A%2F%2Ffeeds.simplecast.com%2FYDRshZA1

You can ignore most of the listed errors, the only significant ones are in lines 968 and 973 where is complains about the HTML - loading a lot of HTML into your descriptions is asking for trouble, and Apple Podcasts will not display links and rendering. However I don't see what tbhe problem is here or whether it might affect the issue. If the episodes containing these links are the point at which you are seeing the episodes stop they may be relevant and you could try simplifying them.

Oh, Roger, I get it. Thank you for re-explaining. As you can tell, I'm not the most tech-savvy person and sometimes it takes me a bit to put all the pieces together. So, my understanding is that everything looks right on the inside (the feed), but how it shows up on the outside (on the iPhone) doesn't match (and doesn't make sense).

I'll head over to the forum for the iOS Podcasts app. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.
