My brand new Apple Mini 6 will not connect to my laptop. I managed to find a cable - not supplied by Apple anymore - but I am getting an exception error. I have gone through the usual fixes. Restarting both. Updating software. Removing and reuploading software. Refreshing the Apple Mobile Server. BUT NOTHING WORKS.
Did you also try to connect in Recovery mode, as explained in this article?

Also make sure to use an Apple USB cable and disable any Anti-Virus Software.
No I didn’t because I would have no idea how to. Why would I need to do this in recovery mode - the iPad is 1 day old and iTunes has just been reinstalled. Just how rubbish are Apple?
