M1 / Network

Just bought Macbook Air M1. Needs Rosetta 2 to open network so cannot download to M1. Can I down load to a different Macbook and transfer the software?

Hi Chris,

You'll need an Internet connection in order to download and install Rosetta 2. Once you're connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet, you can trigger the download by opening an Intel-based app, or by running this command in Terminal: softwareupdate --install-rosetta

Just curious, which apps are you trying to open with Rosetta 2? I haven't heard of Rosetta 2 being needed in order to connect to the Internet before.

Many thanks, your details were dead right. I've just had a long "session" with a lovely lady from Apple who sorted it out. It seems to be down to NordVPN, which although not running during migration, has resident software which is known to cause problems with all sorts of devices. It also removed the WiFi option in the network setup.

Anyway, all OK now and my wife can continue de-stocking Amazon!

Chris
