What is the point of “wireless” charging, when you still have to plug something in with a wire?

Regarding MagSafe “wireless” charging, Can someone explain what is the point of this “wireless” charging, where you still have to plug something in with a wire? Why is this better than the usual way of charging? Serious question! Thanks.

guess that one can leave the charging "island" in 1 place and put various devices on it when they need charging and not need to connect cables

your logic would mean that a power bank would be pointless too as one still has to connect that to recharge it.
