Apple TV app on Roku does not show TV Shows in Library

I have 2 Roku premiere devices and have the Apple TV app on them. I am signed in.

when I go to Library….TV Shows, it shows a bunch of movies from my library, instead of TV shows. They are just there in jumbled order, not even alphabetic(as they are in the Movies portion of the library). If I want to watch a TV show, I have to do a search for it and then launch from there. Why are movies showing in my TV show list and TV shows are not?

Apple TV app versions are current as I deleted and re-added the app on both devices, signing in again from scratch as part of troubleshooting.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks.

You got further than me. If I have time, I may try to call Apple again. It has to be some sort of server or database issue on Apple's end. It's obviously not a Roku issue since it happens on my Chromecast as well. I think Apple updated the app on third-party devices last week, so I wonder if the update broke something.

I had a similar issue back in February. Library Not Available - Apple Community. In that case, my library wouldn't load at all on my third-party devices (Roku, Chromecast) but loaded without issue on my Apple devices. The issue magically resolved itself before I could actually talk with someone in support, so hopefully history repeats itself.

When I did actually talk to someone last time, they recommended rebooting my router as well. In addition to the troubleshooting tips you've tried, I rebooted my router last night. But my TV library is still messed up.

Let me know if you find a solution, and I'll do the same.

All of my TV shows are shown properly. The only flaw is that it also displays one show that I don’t. But all my content is there, with no movies in the TV Show display. I hope you can get it worked out with them. Have you tried signing out and back in, resetting the app(under Settings), or deleting and re-adding the app from your Roku? The other thing to do is to unplug the Roku for a minute; since the Roku does not power down in normal usage, this knight be the only way to clear a potential caching issue.

Apple support called me this morning to follow up on my ticket. I explained that for me, the only residual weirdness was the one unowned show up my TV Shows list. They are going to keep looking at it. David, they said if you are missing content you should contact them as that could be something else. I you get an incoming call from Austin, TX, that's them. Good luck!!

Chris,

If you're still getting notifications on this thread ... did it ever completely get fixed on your end? I.E. shows you don't own no longer appearing in your library?

I'm still missing one show and have two appearing that shouldn't. I had a case with Apple and sent them a bunch of info on my devices to help them, but the support rep ghosted me after a couple of weeks. Called and spoke with someone else last week. She said Apple was aware of the issue and still working on it then. I was supposed to have a callback today, but never received the call.

The app has been updated a couple of times since August, but the issue is still present for me. I've tried every solution I can think of on my end.

Thanks- I should have mentioned that my library is correctly sorted by type, and displays alphabetically, in the TV app on both of my iPads, as well in the Purchased section of the iTunes store app on both of those iPads as well. Only the 2 Roku devices do not display properly.

The first picture below is my Roku- Kagemusha, Dark City, Gravity, Children of Men, and the various Hitchcocks are all movies showing incorrectly in the TV Shows section. The next photo is a screen shot of my library in my iPad, which shows actual TV Shows in that section

I have this exact issue as well. I'm pretty sure it's something on Apple's end.

All three of my Rokus have this issue. A Chromecast I rarely use also has the same issue. So it's affecting all my non-Apple devices. My Macbook, iPad and iPhone are all fine.

I contacted Apple support via chat this afternoon, and they referred me to call a senior advisor. I did that, but got cut off just as I was explaining the issue.

I spent over an hour on the phone yesterday morning with a senior technical rep, to no avail. She is going to escalate it to their engineering department and I will post here again when I get an update.

I have to say- this is really basic functionality. This is not a complicated user scenario where after 37 twists and turns something doesn’t work properly. I am a bit surprised to be having this problem, and I won’t be adding to my Apple TV library until I feel like this Roku app is actually ready for primetime- which I don’t right now.

Good news: The movies are gone from the TV section of my library.

Bad news: It's still not quite right.

One of my shows is missing. And I have two shows that I've never purchased or watched showing up in my library. If I click either of those two shows, I just get a blank screen.

Hoping maybe it takes some time to sync everything again and all will be well in the morning, but I'm not real confident of that.

Yes, as mentioned "....my library is correctly sorted by type, and displays alphabetically, in the TV app on both of my iPads, as well in the Purchased section of the iTunes store app on both of those iPads as well. Only the 2 Roku devices do not display properly.".

As of last night all my content was all there, and showing in the proper category. The only weirdness was the appearance of The Office in TV Shows, since I don't own it.
