Is "No Service" shown on the top-left corner of your screen? Is "No SIM" shown on the top of your screen? If either is the case, yet calls are being made, I'd be a bit concerned,

3. Comment: on when this all began, and how you have troubleshot it thus far. Include the URL of this post

it's by design, you don't even need another iphone you can do it from a mac, ipod touch or ipad or apple watch if you use the same appleID

you can disable it if you so feel, but mind you people should never share an appleID, it means in all things apple they are the same person.
