usb keyboard not recognised

My iMac has suddenly stopped recognising my apple extended usb keyboard. The physical connection seems to be good because I can still connect to the Mac from the USB ports on the keyboard.

So far I've tried disk first aid and I've zapped the PRAM. What else might revive it?

You can also try to use the keyboard on another pc or Mac to see if the problem is related to the keyboard rather then to your mac

Also you can try and reset the SMC of your Mac

Reset the SMC of your Mac – Apple Support (UK)

If this is not working, boot the Mac in safe mode to see if the problem persists
