How do I edit wrong suggested contacts?

In iMessage some of my contacts have mutiple suggested numbers or emails. How do I edit these to have only their correct number be suggested? I don't see these other emails or numbers on their contact cards.

Thanks!

Thank you for clarifying that bonniefromrumson,

As there is a history of the information, this sounds like it is coming up as a suggestion. This article goes over this information for you in more detail: Siri Suggestions on iPhone - Apple Support

"Create email and events: When you start adding people to an email or calendar event, Siri suggests the people you included in previous emails or events.

To change the settings for Siri Suggestions, see Change Siri settings on iPhone."

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hi bonniefromrumson,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

While you cannot edit information for suggested contacts, you can edit the information associated with your contacts. To learn how to do this, check out the link below.

Create or edit contacts in Contacts on iCloud.com - Apple Support

Please know that you can create a new contact or edit an existing contact on iCloud.com. You can also add or delete fields in a contact for default information, such as a phone number or email address, and you can add fields for additional information, such as a birthday, nickname, or spouse’s name.

To perform the above troubleshooting actions recommended by the article, please read through and complete steps 1 through 4.

We’re recommending the steps above because they directly address the issue you initially reached out to the community about, which is wanting to know how to edit contacts.

If the original problem persists after trying the previous steps, please provide us with specifics on what you see for more help, and we will continue from there.

We also noticed that you visited an article before posting, Use Messages on your Mac. Let us know if you have any additional questions we can assist with about that particular article. Please do not include any personal information in your reply if you do.

Cheers!

Thanks for the quick reply, but I obviously was not clear about my issue. I know how to edit my contacts.

The problem is that even though all the info for each of my contacts is correct and up to date on their contact cards, I sometimes get old or incorrect numbers attached to a contact when that contact is suggested in the imessage dropdown when I start to type in the "To" name.

My question is how do I delete names from that dropdown list that appears when I type in the first letter in the iMessage "To" field.
