How to turn off AirTag notifications?

I have an apple tag on my iCloud acct we put in my sons wallet (he knows it’s there and after the 3rd wallet he lost he suggested it, so save your drama comments). He is on a trip with just my husband and it keeps notifying them …/ how do we turn this off while they travel .// I can’t add all their locations. If I delete it while will it turn off

That function is designed-in to prevent tracking of individuals w/o their knowledge.

If they are receiving alerts on their phones, they should be able to silence it for the rest of the day as described here.

Because the tag "identifier" changes daily, they'll have to perform this task daily.
