HomePod rings and I hear voices

My HomePod randomly rings. Sometimes it keeps ringing until I tell it to stop and other times, a muffled voice is heard after it stops ringing on its own, like it’s been answered. No one is making a cell phone call at the time and the HomePod is not in a room with a tv. I reset it and it still happens. This is creeping me out. Why is this happening? Also—Voices are heard when it’s not playing music.

I’m not sure what this is. Do you have another HomePod in the home and intercom is being used to talk to it? Or a neighbour might.

Use HomePod mini or HomePod as an intercom -

See: Allow speaker access: For information about letting others send audio to your HomePod, see Allow others to control audio on HomePod.- Don’t use “ Everyone”

Electronic devices can sometimes exhibit strange behaviour; being able to pick up sounds from another device.
