iphone erase handoff pictures

Today, my wife and I noticed her iPhone 8 pictures are on my iPhone 13 and my iPhone pictures are on her iPhone.. This must have have happened in the past few days. We don’t know how it happened

We share an Apple ID. We just turned off handoff on each phone.

How do I erase her photos from my phone without erasing them from her phone? Same with her erasing my pictures from her phone without erasing them from my phone?

Thanks!

iPhone 8, iOS 15

The reason that that has happened is because both of you are sharing the same Apple ID. When you do this, then you also share the same iCloud account and all your photos and documents are synced to the devices signed on with the same Apple ID.

The shared Apple ID does not know that the owners of the two iPhones are different because same Apple ID has been used. More than likely, both of you are also sharing the same Contacts, Notes, Calendars, Messages etc.

My recommendation is to use separate Apple IDs and then use 👉 Family Sharing and control what is shared among its members.
