How do you get the back of an AirTag back on?

How do you get the back of an Air Tag back on? I have been trying with no luck. Maybe a small slot on the back to use a coin for on or off or a small screw driver too.

Hello L2Photo,

To put the back cover back on your AirTag you'll want to do the following:

  • "Replace the cover, making sure that the three tabs on the cover align with the three slots on the AirTag.
  • Rotate the cover clockwise until it stops."

You can find more info about removing and re-securing the back cover here: How to replace the battery in your AirTag

Take care!

I have indeed replaced the battery on my AirTag and it is an easy task to place and turn the top to lock. If your fingers are too smooth or oily try using a rubber or latex kitchen glove.

When the AirTags first came out they were criticized for being too easy to remove the battery and danger to children. People then tried using child-safe batteries that are coated with a foul tasting substance so a child won’t put it in their mouth. Apple then warned against using those batteries because they can cause problems with conductivity. The old conundrum.
