Aipods max waterproof

So i got the airpod max almos a year ago and i found out recently that it isn’t waterproof and i’ve been using it while working out and I spilled on it water a few times luckily it still works what should i do about it should i use different headphones for working out and why the 550 dollar airpods aren’t waterproof?
