meaning that Face ID is not working?

If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support

If an alert says Face ID has been disabled on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support

or that Face ID is no longer unlocking your iPhone and you forgot your passcode?

If you forgot your iPhone passcode - Apple Support
