tutoring/help with ipad

HI - Does anyone know of a tutor that could work with a senior citizen on helping him with his two ipads - he does not want to go to Apple and work with a genius - feels they are too rushed. We live in the western suburbs of Chicago - looking for someone to do in person - seniors are old school :-).

Thank you,

Jill

I don’t think you will find a tutor here. Is there a young relative (in high school or college) who could visit and offer tutoring? Or you may want to check with the local high school or check on your local NextDoor.com. You should be able to find someone who wants to make a few dollars.

You should be present with the senior during the tutoring since you will essentially be bringing a stranger into the house and seniors can be quite vulnerable. It’s a shame you cannot talk them into going to the Genius Bar. That is the safest approach.

Your friend may also want to sign up here. Most of the experienced members here are over the age of 50 and understand what it's like to learn new things as an adult. And, the forum operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. While this forum is not necessarily a substitute for in-person training, it's still a very valuable resource.

In addition to Carol B.'s excellent suggestions, you might also try checking out your local library, recreation or community center or senior center. I know when I was last unemployed, I applied for a job at a local community center doing exactly what your friend is asking for.
