I was on a plane enjoying my macbook pro 13' and the screen went blank... still had sound and on restart it has audio. the computer is ten years old and I already bought a new one. My question is, if the old computer is worth fixing.

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment/estimate

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"
