iPhone 13 Pro Max

I am a long standing Apple customer. For as long as they’ve been available. I finally traded my trusty iPhone 6S for the Cadillac of phones, the iPhone 13 Max Pro! I’m 70 years young. This was going to be my last and greatest of phones, or so I hoped. The phone underperformed as a camera in daylight, good for profile and wide angle. 6 months in, the phone went to a solid yellow screen and died. I live in Costa Rica where this phone is not yet available. I’m going to get a friend to take it into an Apple store in Canada and replace it but I really just want a refund. I’ve completely lost faith in this phone. I believe it has design flaws. For one thing, there’s no physical button to shut it down. You can hard boot it with the side buttons but that doesn’t shut it down. I paid $2000 that I couldn’t afford to get this phone. I am unbearably disappointed. I’d like my money back and I’ll just go back to my trusty iPhone 6 but I’m expecting you’re going to say that’s not your policy.

It isn't our policy. Because we are NOT Apple. This is a user to user only forum. You are only communicating with other users like yourself.

If this is an issue with your iPhone, and it is under warranty, Apple will take care of you. iPhone 13 Pro Max is hands down the best iPhone Apple has ever made and I've every version from iPhone 3G forward. The camera system is way more sophisticated and it does take some training to fully utilize its features. Had you had issues when you got your phone, there are many tutorials you could have seen as well as YouTube videos on how to get the best from the cameras.

I hope your friend can get your phone taken care of for you, but you'll most assuredly not get a refund unless the phone was purchased within the last 14 days, which is Apple's return policy.

Not defensive at all. I have taken some of the best cell phone photos with my iPhone 13 Pro Max of ANY cell phone I've ever owned. But they are not as point-and-shooty as iPhone's of the past. I'm a pretty serious photo enthusiast. I am a Nikon DSLR shooter and yet, I mostly shoot with my 13 Pro Max these days.

And yes, I can certainly understand the frustration with your phone malfunctioning after only 6 months. It it can happen with any cell phone out there. I have a friend who is now on their 3rd Pixel. I know others in my office who have had top of the line Samsung's poop out. If your iPhone is within warranty and it is defective, Apple will take care of you. But they won't refund you.

That said, if after the phone has been taken care of, in whatever manner Apple chooses, you're still not happy, sell the phone and go buy something else you think will better meet your needs. An iPhone 13 Pro Max will hold more of its value than any used cell phone out there.

You sound a little defensive about this product and rest assured I’ve taken many courses on how to properly operate both the phone and camera. I have been in discussion groups about the problems with daylight photos as compared with, for instance the Pixel which outperforms for daytime photos. I have always used Apple products but you can surely imagine my dismay when my, very expensive, top of the line iPhone went to the “screen of death” after only 6 months of use! I have lost faith. Extremely disappointed!!!
