how to stop Taboola ads

I access a news website on Safari. After an article, readers can comment. However, the space between where the article ends and comments begin is full of unsolicited 'articles' from something called 'Taboola' ('This astonishing diet will prolong your life!). It can take 10 minutes to wade through this stuff.

Is there a way to remove the virus (or whatever) responsible for this rubbish or must one buy anti-viral software and hope it finds the given virus? Some older posts recommend 'resetting' Safari but that is not an option in Safari 15.6.1 and is a 'nuclear' option because you obliterate a lot of saved useful data.
