why am I getting "item detected near you" messages for items owned by family group members?

I got an "item detected near you" message for my daughter's airpods pro, saying they were "an unknown device" that was traveling with me. But it's not an unknown device, it's in the list of devices in the "Find My" app. Why am I getting notifications about it? I can see her location, and she can see mine, why would I care if she was tracking me? I don't think I should get notifications about this device at all, but if I do, it should at least not describe it as an "unknown device".

I tried to shut off notifications, but I could only pause them for one day. I did not see an option to pause them indefinitely.

Hi PaulF22, We appreciate you reaching out to us. We understand that you are getting an "Item detected near you" message that pertains to your daughter's AirPods Pro.

We’d like to gather additional details that may help us be in a better position to assist you.

Are you and your daughter under the same Family Sharing?

Other than the AirPods Pro, does your daughter have her Apple devices with her when you received the message?

In the meantime, we recommend that you check for a software update on all of your devices.

While it isn't inherently assured that an update will resolve the issue, updating to the latest software version for your device can help isolate potential software issues.

Kindly secure a backup and update.
