e-SIM card erasing

Hello,

I need to use iTunes to restore&update my iPhone (current in iPhone13 Pro with iOS 15.6) to factory setting with latest iOS version update.

However, I am also using a e-SIM card in my iPhone now. I just wonder whether this restore & update action through iTunes will erase my e_SIM card or not?

Thank you very much!

Restoring to factory settings can be done without iTunes even. While doing so without iTunes you will have an option to retain eSIM info.

However, when you restore your device from a backup that eSIM data may get overwritten if the eSIM was not backed up earlier.

Transfer a physical SIM or eSIM on your current iPhone to an eSIM on your new iPhone after setup

  1. On your new iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan.
  2. Tap Convert Cellular Plan.
  3. Tap Convert to eSIM.
  4. Tap OK on the alert that says you must approve the transfer on your previous iPhone.
