I downloaded an App but I cannot open it. Why?

I downloaded an app from the App Store online but it won't open when I click on it. Why is that? Its a new IPHONE 11.

you should contact the app developer if their app isn't working

If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support
