Wired earphones not working during calls

I have an Iphone 13 (with latest updates). The problem started when I first connected wired earphones through the lightning jack. A question appeared on my phone and I accidentaly pressed to regard the accessory not as headphones, but as something different. When I listen to music all is fine, but when trying to make calls, the phone doesnt registry that the earphones are there and I hear no sound coming out of them. There used to be this button in Sounds & Haptics called “Forget all lightning devices”, however, it is not present on my phone. What can I do to be able to speak through wired earphones during calls? Apple repair specialist in the local IDeal suggested hard reset only, but I dont want to do that.

My microphone is unmuted. The problem is, that the phone recognizes the earpods as speakers, therefore, I cant talk or hear what the caller says during call. When listening to music, everything works fine

Report this to Apple:

Having recently updated your iPhone, then it may be a bug in the update. So, report this to AppleApple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is going on, and what fixes to include in updates to come.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: on when the issue began(after an update), and how you have troubleshot it thus far. Include a link to this post.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Reset this Up Anew:

The audio is overlapping. I can’t come across a solution for that. So, I agree, and say to set your iPhone to factory settings, as if you were to sell it. Enable items in iCloud Settings (so that items are not lost) and then proceed with the reset. You’d perform as an instructed here, including the iCloud logout and backup: What to do Before you Sell, Give Away, or Trade In your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

Use the Locked Screen while On the Phone:

Tap the locked screen of the active call (where call info and controls are provided). The phone controls will then show up providing you with the control to Unmute and Mute the Microphone (the Microphone is in the top-left corner).
