iPhone messages app behaving strangely

I sent a message to a group of friends (all in my contacts). I received a reply from one person and when I went to reply my list of people was replaced by “unknown” and I am unable to reply.

Hi Bud in PA,

To clarify, is this group message all iPhones or does one or more people have an Android? The easiest way to tell is if the messages are blue or green.

Additionally, take a moment to restart your iPhone, then check that thread again.

Finally, when you try to send a reply, what specifically happens? Do you receive any sort of error message?
