How do you open x-vcard files sent to you via SMS

I know it isn’t a supported format, but are there any workarounds? Are there apps on the AppStore that can let my iPhone read and open them? If not, why not?

Hey there Edgrio,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. To get started, you may be able to locate an app in the App Store that would allow you to open and read vCards. If you need help with finding apps in the App Store, check out this link here: Get apps in the App Store on iPhone - Apple Support

You may get some helpful results by searching "vCard" or "vCard Reader" in the App Store.

If unable to find an app that would work, you can find the best steps on how to import or export a vCard for your contacts using the steps below from the following resource: Import or export a vCard in Contacts on iCloud.com - Apple Support

Import a vCard
If the vCard contains contact information for more than one person, each contact becomes a separate entry.
1. In Contacts on iCloud.com, click the Show Actions Menu pop-up button in the sidebar, then choose Import vCard.
2. Select a vCard to import.

Contacts from imported vCards are added to the All Contacts group. You can add contacts to any other group by dragging them. See Create and manage groups of contacts on iCloud.com.

Export a vCard
1. In Contacts on iCloud.com, select one or more contacts in the contacts list.
2. Click the Show Actions Menu pop-up button in the sidebar, then choose Export vCard.
If you select multiple contacts, Contacts exports a single vCard containing all of them.

Tip: You can export all your contacts as a single vCard and use it as a backup.

We hope that's able to help.

Take care!
