someone told me I could erase all of the info in my contacts that this has happened to, but that is VERY inconvenient when I need to send the message right away.

Check Settings > General > Language & Region. Is Region set to “United States”?

Why exactly does one number say “216” and the other “214”? You must be typing something very unusual in the addressee field of the message you’re composing.
Change your setting at Settings > Phone > Dial Assist.
Clearly you have some international stuff going on, and we don’t know the details.

Please explain the relationship between “+1 (1) (216) 116-11” and the contact this is associated with.
Then please do the same for “12149532210”.
By “explain the relationship”, I mean, for example, this exact number appears in the “home telephone” field of the contact You were addressing.
You should tell us exactly what you entered in the address field of the failing message, and exactly how the contact is associated with whatever you entered.
It just happened AGAIN when I tried to text a friend here in the Tulsa area. The error message was received 3 times for this one text message that I had attempted

I just noticed that the very long number at the end of each of the error code messages is different every time. Do you need all of those?
Message won’t send due to auto added digits
