failed to send means what?
In messages I will sometimes get a failed to send notice. There doesn't seem to be anything different from previous messages. Trying again does not help. This is true from my iMac and my iPhone.

Nothing special here, don't feel alone...it is not a perfect science.
Delete the message that did not send, and try at a later time. Compare your results.
