I have the full version of FCP but get "The operation couldn’t be completed. One or more of the libraries were created with a newer version of Final Cut Pro Trial. These libraries will be ignored."

Just received this message today. I was just using FCP last night, but today the project I was working on wont open. Ive had the full version of FCP for ages now.

I click OK then it says Final Cut Pro Trial has expired and offers me the option to buy, if I click buy it takes me to the app store and Ive already purchased.

Can anyone help? Thanks

Reset the preferences. Hold ⌥ ⌘ as you double click the library you want to open to launch the application. A dialog appears asking you if you want to Delete Preferences. If you don't do this while double-clicking your library, the application will open a default Untitled library.

Its super random, was working last night and then just decided to open in the trial. I spoke to apple support and deleting the trial version on my computer fixed it. It was related to the preferences thing mentioned earlier. Cheers anyway!

If you get the message "Final Cut Pro Trial has expired " then it must be that a trial version has launched.

It may also be plausible that you have more than one trial version on your system, these may not be the same version as one another.

If you have any trial versions ,then best to drag them to the trash.

Thank you! Yes I spoke to apple support too and they located my trial version and moving it to the trash fixed the issue

Sorry I was away for a few hours, here is the screenshot, the project is on my external hard drive which is where I keep all of my libraries, thats how I was using it last night and in the past, generally dont have enough room on my main hard drive for that sort of stuff

This is something that has happened to me at least once since 2011 and I know others have suffered it.

Unfortunately I can't remember the outcome . . . whether I overcame it or just started over again.

Thanks Tom, I got the message to reset doing the method you suggested but it still gives me the "one or more libraries created in trial..." once opened in Final Cut Pro
