Tally hours in iCal

Hello,

Is there a way to have iCal tally hours? I'm using a calendar in iCal to track/plan my work hours - I can input my work hours into the iCal calendar, but then have to manually add up the hours, or run a separate spreadsheet to calculate the hours worked. It'd be nice if iCal just did this automatically - it's already got the data.

I've been searching around for a couple weeks now for an elegant solution, and it doesn't look like there is one native to Apple (requires downloading timesheet software that isn't usually free and is way more complicated than I need, or trying to export the data to numbers, which seems to only be able to be done manually, and even tracking the hours in numbers is clumsy...). I'm kinda flummoxed Apple doesn't have this option - what do Apple employees use to track/plan work hours?
