Connected my iPad Air via usb-c (the one that came with the monitor) to my LG external monitor. Both devices support 4k (30hz for iPad Air and 60hz for LG), but a notice pops up on my monitor saying that the device is not displaying in the maximum resolution, as it is displaying in 2560 x 1440 instead of 3840 x 2160.
Any idea why the iPad Air is restricting resolution to a lower choice, and how to bump it up to 4k?

The 2021 models of iPad Pro support DisplayPort Alternate Mode video over USB-C - but this feature is not available on iPad Air4.
Perhaps consider using an Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - as you can simultaneously connect both an HDMI cable and your Power Adapter via the USB-C power pass-through connector:
When screen mirroring, you’ll see the iPad’s native screen resolution.
If instead you are using either AirPlay or an HDMI connection to play 4K video content, such as movies, your TV/monitor will receive the full 4K video stream.
Thanks for the very quick reply. When playing videos, is it only possible to output in 4k via hdmi and not usb-c? That would be a shame, since the iPad Air is able to charge via usb-c while connected to the monitor.
