zscaler blocking MacOS functionalities (universal control, Apple Watch unlock, ...)

Hi,

My company has deployed Zscaler.

I run MacOS 12.5.1

In the past, I couldn't use iCloud storage, Apple Mail app, Localize, etc. Our IT team solved these one by one but it was a fight.

I feel like a lot of users equipped with corporate Macs don't enjoy their experience or think their Mac is not working properly because of Zscaler.

There still two elements that don't work when Zscaler kicks in: Universal Control, to control my iPad and Mac with my keyboard/mouse, and Apple Watch unlocking MacOS.

I'd like to give guidance to our IT team on what change is needed on Zscaler rules, but I can't find information on what MacOS needs to get these working.

Does anyone have ideas/sources for this?

Thanks in advance

if your company manages Zscaler or it's outsourced then the admin(s) need to change the policy to allow exceptions on the device they provide for you. If the IT dept isn't cooperative with your requests you may need to run it up to management and explain what the policies are doing to the impact your production. This is a volunteer forum, we have no authority to suggest what you do to bypass any security policies your company puts on their owned devices for compliance and protection.

I concur. Using Sidecar to have a secondary screen, using only one keyboard and mouse etc. these are efficiencies for me to work (and cost optimization).

Per my comment above, they are OK to allow this (SideCar, Universal Control...) but they can't find how to do it. So I'm looking at what rules need to be changed/added to help them (they are not MacOS specialists).
