iPhone screen freezes when I hit snooze on the alarm

Hello everyone,

I had purchased an iPhone 11 two years ago, and it seemed to have a problem with the alarm function: the screen froze when I hit snooze, and the only way to unfreeze it was by using the lock button.

Note that while frozen, the phone was not functioning in any way.

(This resulted in me using my previous phone as an alarm, since I couldn't count on the iPhone to wake me!)

I recently purchased an iPhone 13 Pro max, and oh!, so surprisingly, the problem, still, persists.

I tried restoring/resetting the new phone to set it up manually as a new device in order to check whether the alarm would function normally or freeze again.

Well, even though this seemed to have solved the problem (I don't know if I kept using it after the restoration, if the problem would eventually come up again), however in this way I lose a lot of data and app history which is useful and important.

So, the question is:

Is there any other way to fix this alarm bug without losing any existing/previous data?

Thank you in advance!

Kat

Hello, _K-a-t-e_.

We rely on our alarms for everything, so we definitely understand that this would be a challenge! We'd like to help. To address your direct question, if you had an issue on iPhone # 1 and applied the backup made from that device to iPhone # 2, and you saw the same behavior occur, that tells us that the issue is something in the software being shared. It is likely that the issue would not return if you remained on the like-new software you had after the restoration. It's possible that you could recreate the issue though, if (for example) there was an app you had downloaded on your first iPhone that caused this behavior that was later downloaded on the second iPhone.

Having said all that, we know using your iPhone without all the familiar apps, programs and customizations is not ideal. So we'd suggest that you stick with the backup version that has everything you like on it and troubleshoot this alarm matter. The first thing we'd suggest would be to delete all alarms and recreate just one for testing. Also, take a close look at your app lists and see if you have any that control your alarms. If so, try removing the app temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.

In addition, as with all unexpected iPhone behavior, try taking the following steps which may help with this: restart your iPhone, make sure it is up to date, close the affected apps, then reopen them and make sure all apps are updated.

    1. Restart your iPhone
    2. Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    3. Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch
    4. How to manually update apps on your Apple device

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue. Thanks and have a fabulous day!
