Wrong phone number for identity verification when registering card on Apple Wallet & Pay

When trying to register my BNP Paribas credit card with Apple Wallet, the app only offers 1 option which is a verification code sent to an old UK phone number that I don't use any more. Therefore I cannot register my BNP Paribas credit card. I have checked multiple times with BNP Paribas. They have my correct phone number in their system. I am not sure why but Apple Pay is using this old phone number for BNP Paribas card only. However, when I check in settings / Apple Wallet & Pay / Phone, I can see that my correct French phone is registered. However the verification is still sent on this old UK line when trying to register the card, and no alternative verification option is provided. Really really frustrating. I called Apple support several times in past months and years to try to get this solved. This is my last attempt...
