how to fix tv app
When the app's player opens, I don't get a picture of the content, but smeared colors. I see promos without a problem.

Hey again! Thanks for all the info, that helps! Especially that similar behavior occurs in other apps.
I have seen this before, especially if remote viewing/conferencing software is installed on the Mac. (Such as ones companies use, or otherwise like Zoom, etc.) Do you use anything like that? For work? Or otherwise?
Thats also why I asked if you keep other devices connected, such as an external monitor / projector or streaming to Apple TV, etc. These may all interfere with that. If so, I’d disable those devices or settings to see if any difference.
For this, if those questions aren’t relevant, it may simply be resolved by resetting the NVRAM:
Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
If that fails, I may try testing on another admin account, or in Safe Mode to further isolate the cause of the issue:
Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support
Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support
Hey again! No worries, glad to help out.
Here is an official resource from Apple:
If you can't watch or stream movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app - Apple Support
I’m still not clear if this happens no matter what content you are trying to play, but if that article doesn’t fix it, or the steps I mentioned, I have a few more suggestions if needed, thanks.
I subscribed to Apple One
I am on imac 27 late 2020 the operating system is up to date
There is no problem with an Apple TV connected to a TV.
I can only see the Apple Tio logo and then the player is washed out in color.
I can see the titles at the end of the chapters without a problem.
I see promos without a problem.
I tried everything possible that I could find and nothing helped.
It only happens when I try to watch on the imac
I tried to take a screenshot via the shortcut
And for some reason I didn't get the colors that cover the player
Only black and white. Even weirder.
many thanks
Hey there!
I think I can see what you’re referring to, but may need more information.
So this is when trying to play a program within the Apple TV app?
Does this happen for all videos?
Do you use external displays? Or even Airplay to other devices in the home?
Do other media apps do the same?
And finally, have you done any troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue? This may help, as well as a screen shot or picture if possible, thanks!
Except for external disks for storage
and CalDigit ThunderboltTM Station 3
Nothing is connected to the computer.
I did the actions you suggested
NVRAM Safe Mode another admin account
I did not check this operation users, guests, and groups. i will try.
Thank you very much for your willingness to help and for your time.

And yes, it happens in all apple one content
I see the streaming of Apple events without a problem.
Actually, I'm not sure that I tried to watch through the tv app on the computer the streams of the previous events.
I will soon have orders to check it out. lol
Apple music works without problems
Also the app store.
The only thing that comes to mind, I see the translation, and I see the logo at the beginning and the titles at the end. Something in streaming is blocked. On my side there is no problem, my connection is very fast to the net. I can see the Apple TV without a problem. Maybe we'll screw something up with the permission of the software.
New group and user didn't help.
I reinstalled the operating system. Not a clean install.
command + r
And that didn't help either.
I will go through the links you sent me.
It doesn't matter that much if it works.
It's just that it started to make me very curious as to why it doesn't work. LOL
many thanks. Have a good weekend
If a miracle happens you will be the first to know.
Testing from an external monitor is a good test as I said just a bit ago. And you did mention the same in Safari.......was this a different website? Or were you at tv.apple.com? Testing both tv.apple.com and other websites may also help to reveal the source of the cause, cheers.
This is a screenshot from my mobile from the software player.
This does not happen in any other app
I hear the sound
and sees the translation without problems
In my area apple one should work
This happens not only in the app
It also happens through Safari.
again. many thanks
No worries!
Another good test would be to connect an external display, to extend the desktop. Move the Apple TV window to the external display and see if a difference. You too, have a good weekend!
