After importing raw files into Photos from my card out of a Nikon Z7II I’ve started getting a “original file not found” error once I’ve ejected the card from its reader. D850 images work fine.
I get the same error when I import the file from a Nikon Transfer 2 folder after deleting the file from that folder.
previously this mostly worked, though not as seamlessly as d850 files where the card launched Photos.

Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and Photos copies files into the Photos Library when Importing. The files are then stored within the Library package
A Referenced Library is when Photos is NOT copying the files into the Photos Library when importing because you made a change at Photo -> Preferences -> General. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

Thanks, I’ll check to see if that’s changed. Though since the d850 images don’t generate that error I suspect that’s not the source of the issue as a preference change would effect both camera types wouldn’t it?
Solved! Found that box unchecked. Though why it hadn’t effected my d850 is unclear. But hey it worked.
