Problems typing hex color codes in Notes (macOS 12.5)

Hi,

So I'm a big user of Notes, both on my MacBook Pro and on my iPhone where I've worked seamlessly between devices for years. I work with digital design, so a big part is about documenting design, writing design guides etc.

But today I experienced something I haven't encountered before.

At least this is the first time I see it.

When writing hex color codes, Notes just assumes that I am trying to tag my document.

Is it possible to turn this off? It is very disturbing for the kind of documenting that I am doing.

I'd hate to have to find some other text tool now.

In Notes, go to Edit, Substitutions and turn off Smart Tags. Now you can type color codes like #90AEF3 without them automatically being turned into tags.

Note you can still type a real tag, select it, and Control+click it and then choose Convert to Tag to create tags even with this setting off.
