I have iCloud with 2TB of space why do I need google drive ! I have not been using google drive ,what are the down sides to this if any

I have iCloud with 2TB of space why do I need google drive ! I have not been using google drive ,what are the down sides to this if any. as I find that if it is connected I end up running out of the free 15GB space.

Why does iCloud Drive still take up so much room?! I have gone through my MacBook Air with a fine toothed comb deleting files and removing clutter trying desperately to clear out enough room for running Final Cut Pro. I looked at iCloud Drive taking up 175gb out of my 256gb capacity. It’s all iCloud stuff that shouldn’t be on my MacBook, why is it still taking up so much room? Apple: make iCloud Drive settings for users to choose specific apps to use the drive feature. Do better.
