When I open Iphoto on my Imac, it defaults to albums, I don't see a way to see all photos.

Left hand side bar, scroll to the top. It should show all the standard views. If it doesn't, look for the little > symbol as shown in the screenshot (you need to move your mouse over "photos" to get it).
Click that and all the standard views should expand below.
All photos will be in "library"

Are you using iPhoto or Photos? Which system version is installed? In some older versions of Photos you may need to make the sidebar visible with ⌘⇧S, also when you are using full screen mode you have to enable the sidebar to show from the "View" menu.
