iPhone XR Rear Camera - photo and video shacking, wobbling and crackle noise

I have recently updated to latest ISO Software 15.6.1, previously to this my phone was working fine but since update the rear facing camera when taking photos and video the screen is wobbling just like sea sickness and a crackling noise can be heard from the rear Camera.

When you take a picture or video and view the outcome the picture is fine, stable I have noticed that the camera is having difficulty focusing.

I have followed all the recommended remedies suggested on Apple Community and various Internet sites, cleaning the camera lens, tapping around the camera, doing a forced restart and doing a back up resetting to factory settings all without success.

I am waiting to see if Apple do another software update which rectifies the problem they have caused.

iPhone XR, iOS 15

issueswithiPhoneXR,

Thanks for replying. To make sure we've covered everything, were you able to test without a case? Depending on the type of case you use, or if you use any magnetic accessories, this could result in the behavior you're describing: Magnetic accessories might interfere with iPhone cameras - Apple Support

A strong magnetic field can interfere with OIS and closed-loop AF
Lens-position sensors respond to magnetic fields. If you place a magnet near these sensors, the magnetic field will interfere with or temporarily disable the sensors. This can degrade the sensors' accuracy and limit the range of movement available to the lenses. The camera will continue to take photos with other means of stabilization but without the benefit of OIS and closed-loop AF.

How to avoid magnetic interference
Third-party manufacturers make some accessories with strong magnets or magnetizable metal plates that are near the iPhone rear camera (or cameras). These magnets and plates can latch folio covers, join separable cases, or attach to rigid mounts—for example, car mounts. For best camera performance, avoid accessories that use magnets or magnetic metal near the iPhone rear camera (or cameras).

Hey there issueswithiPhoneXR,

Try the steps below to help get your camera working smoothly:

Remove case, accessory, or film and test
1. Remove any case, accessory, or film that might block the camera or flash or that places a magnet near the camera.
2. Test the camera by trying to take a photo.
3. Test the LED flash:
1. Try the flashlight in Control Center on your iPhone or Control Center on your iPad. On an iPhone X or later or an iPad, swipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen. On an iPhone 8 or earlier, swipe up from the bottom edge of any screen.
2. Tap the Flashlight button Flashlight icon.

If the flash works only sometimes, open the Camera app and tap the flash button   to choose a different setting.

Contact Apple Support
If the camera or flash still isn't working properly, contact Apple Support to discuss service options.
