The trackpad/cursor on my M1 2020 macbook air constantly freezes.

About 70% of the time after the computer has been "asleep", the cursor will be frozen on screen and the touch pad inactive. Connecting a mighty mouse will move the cursor and work as it should, but track pad remains frozen. Only way to get track pad and cursor to respond is to do a reboot. It does not freeze mid-use. In my experience this happens after computer has been "closed" and asleep. I also notice that if I'm using the Mighty Mouse and disconnect it, the track pad will not be responsive without a reboot. Sometimes I have to reboot more than once in both scenarios. 95% of the time I use my computer I do not want to use a mouse. This has been happening regularly now almost since I bought the computer. Has anyone dealt with this. I've been an Apple user since the very beginning - and of course, this is the first time I opted out of Apple Care. So dumb. I was on a tight budget during COVID and had virtually never used it before so took my chance.

Re: Any other ideas?

Sorry ... nothing else springs to mind (Am no expert, however)

Re: I bought the computer at the Apple store about a year ago. I need to check.

With a serial number, you can check your Service and Support Coverage online:

https://checkcoverage.apple.com/au/en/;jsessionid=node0525iculj19xds7x41izqlawf3077853.node0

How to find serial number:

Identify your MacBook Air model – Apple Support

Or: If you have your Mac's original packaging, you can check the barcode to find the serial number.

You can also find your Mact's serial number on the original product receipt or invoice.

(Eg: Search for eMails from Apple)

Hello brbo. Thank you for trying to help. I've been a part of this community for 30+ years - and it's always helpful. I double checked through each of the scenarios you offered above and none of them are the culprit. I was super hopeful that maybe the Accessibility setting was the culprit, but, no, the option to ignore track pad when mouse sensed was not turned on.

Any other ideas? Again, without apple care I'm not sure I'll be able to fix this. I bought the computer at the Apple store about a year ago. I need to check.
