Synchronisation issue with icloud

Since the latest update to IPad IOS 15.6.1 I have problems saving files (Excel, Word) to the ICloud. When I try to reopen a document I have just been working on, I get an error message telling me that the file could not be uploaded because the changes made by another user could not be linked to that document. As I‘m not connected to a network and I‘m the only one to use the files, this is obviously not correct. What can be the problem?!?

Hi ALC_7141,

We're happy to provide some assistance.

Based on your original post, we recommend the troubleshooting steps via the link below since you cannot save files to iCloud.

Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive

To perform the troubleshooting actions recommended by the article above, please read through and complete the steps in the section titled "Store your files in iCloud and save space on your device."

We're recommending the steps above because they directly address the issue you initially reached out to the community about, which is that you cannot re-open files that you were previously working on because you can't save them to iCloud.

If the original problem persists after trying our suggested troubleshooting steps, then give the steps here a try: Access and manage your files in iCloud Drive.

Please provide us with specifics on what you see for more help if your issue has not been resolved, and we will continue from there.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!

Thank you. I‘ve checked what you suggest and everything is OK. In fact, I‘m not doing anything differently, or in a different environment, than before. A couple of weeks ago I suddenly started getting the attached recurring error message (unfortunately in German). Sometimes changes just don‘t get saved.

I suspect that saving to the iCloud does not happen instantly anymore - for a reason I don‘t understand. My guess is that in-between synchronisations I am working on an offline version and that any changes are interpreted as those of another user (???). I‘ve tried switching the automatic saving of files to manual, but that doesn‘t help. The only way I can make sure that my changes are saved is creating a copy of the file - not really an optimal solution.

Any ideas?

Cheers
