Monterey / Logic Pro 10.7.4 - random disk is too slow or system overload messages since upgrade

I very rarely used to get disk is too slow or system overload messages.

I'm using a 2019 iMac.

3.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7 processor

16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 memory

Ever since upgrading to Monterey and version 10.7.4 I'm getting them all the time. Nothing else has changed, there's nothing else which I'm doing differently. I'm even getting them at the start of a project with only 9 audio tracks and a couple of MIDI tracks, something which my computer used to be able to deal with easily. I'm not running any other apps in the background other than Google Chrome.

I've tried the normal troubleshooting steps in the project settings and system preferences, and these haven't made a difference. Like I said, everything was working well on Big Sur and the previous version of Logic.

Can someone please help? I feel like downgrading back to where I was, which is something I've never done before so that would really be a last resort, ideally.

Thanks in advance!

iMac
