HP Smart Scan - Cannot save to Files

As recent as 3 months ago, I could save scans from HP Smart to my Files folders in iCloud Drive or on my device. Now the only options are to save to Photos or to HP Smart.

The only thing I can think of that has changed is I joined Apple One as a family member under my spouse’s account. His iPad Pro can still save HP Smart scans to Files and other locations. His is one gen newer ipad otherwise the same.

Is it a setting I need to change, or a glitch with Apple One?

Thank you. Yes it was hard deciding what category to place my problem in since I didn’t know the cause.

I did restart and also dropped out and back in to family sharing via Apple One. The problem persisted, and I realized it wasn’t limited to HP Smart - I couldn’t Save to Files from ANY share/save dialog box - Share sheet? - either native or 3rd party apps.

I found an advice page that mentioned Edit Actions at the bottom of the Share/Save dialog box. It seems somehow my Save to Files option had been deleted from my Share sheet. Perhaps fat fingers or falling asleep on the iPad - nothing to do with Family Sharing or Apple One. So I scrolled down to Edit Actions and was able to add back Save to Files as an action.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me figure this out. I don’t often ask for help so it was obviously driving me batty! Thanks again.

This is getting outside the realm of Family Sharing (this forum) but I would not think that starting Apple One would have any effect on what you are trying to do unless you have not realized that perhaps you do not have any access to Apple One at all.

Sometimes it helps to have the devices involved take a fresh look at settings:

- Try signing out of accounts and back in again.

- Restarting is a simple step that can resolve many unexpected behaviors.

If a problem persists, particularly over several days, try contacting Apple for assistance:

Click here --> Choose your country or region - Official Apple Support Select your country, then a product. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.
