Macbook Air M1 slow and mouse jerky with Samsung M5 external monitor

I have a Samsung M5 external monitor with a Macbook Air M1. With scaled or default monitor settings the mouse still moves in a jerky manner.

Different answers on stack exchange say to set the resolution low. But that is not an option on the Samsung M5. See screen shot

Hi walker226,

It’s never fun when mouse tracking isn’t working as expected, and you’ve come to the right community to receive support. We recommend the following troubleshooting steps via the link below.

Change mouse tracking, double-click, and scrolling speed on Mac - Apple Support

Please read through and complete steps one and two to complete the troubleshooting actions we recommended via the article above.

We’re recommending the steps above because they directly address the issue you initially reached out to the community about, which is that your mouse moves in a jittery manner when using it with your external monitor.

If the original problem persists after trying the previous steps, please provide us with specifics on what you see for more help, and we will continue from there.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!
