CarPlay not working in 2020 Corolla SE

I bought a used 2020 Corolla SE and carplay will not work. I am using a brand new Apple usb cord; screen time is not enabled; Siri is turned on; software on my phone is up to date; car software is up to date; Corolla is not visible when I open CarPlay on my phone. I tried reconnecting and connecting cord a few times from both ends, I turned my phone off and on; I turned car off and on; I turned off engine then plugged in phone and started engine, I tried using a different usb cord. CarPlay will not work.

When I tap “screen projection” on Corolla, it says—Apple CarPlay is on—feature will be active after reconnecting usb cable.” When I reconnect usb cable there’s no change.

Bluetooth works fine. Main screen on Corolla says “searching iPod” when I plug in my iPhone 12.

CarPlay works fine in my 2018 Honda Odyssey using same phone and same cords.

Hello Csandst1,

CarPlay is a great feature! It sounds as though you've verified CarPlay is supported with your vehicles infotainment system and you've walked through the steps to set up CarPlay. With CarPlay not working as you'd expect, you'll want to complete the steps listed below. These steps are specific to resolving issues related to CarPlay. You can also find these steps outlined in the following article.

"Make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS. If your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS, follow these steps — checking CarPlay after each step:

  1. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
    • If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
    • If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled under Settings > Wi-Fi and Settings > Bluetooth.

2.If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display.

3.Restart your iPhone and your car.

4.Make sure that Siri is on.

5.If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.

6.Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.

7.Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information."
