Apple Watch series 5 gets hot

I have an Apple Watch Series 5 and needed an extra charger. Got the last one at Walmart in the town I was staying overnight. Realized I could not plug it into my wall charger because it was USB-C. So back to Walmart for a new charger. I used it to charge my watch but the puck and watch got hot. It does not get hot with my regular charger. Is this a problem? Will it harm my watch?

This is most likely due to the power output of your new charger. The Apple Original charges with about 5W. When you charge with say 20W, a lot more power is being loaded onto your watch in a shorter period of thing and therefore more losses (in this case appearing as heat) are happening.

This is completely normal so don’t worry!
