I turned off "Control Center" when locked but it would not turn off, I could still use it. I have a iphone 12 Pro.

Are you looking at your phone when you swipe down to access the control center? If so that is the issue if you have face id enabled.

Lay the phone down next to you and try swiping down and see if it opens or not.

I have my control center set to lock as well and don't have any issue.

1. I cannot reproduce the error on my device so let us try some troubleshooting steps.
2. Go to settings>general>reset>and reset all settings (this does not delete data but it does delete personal settings so you would have to set those again)
3. Force reboot device - Apple Support
4. last thing to try is erase device and set it up as new (using a computer to erase and restore if possible)

If it only worked once you need to erase your device and set it up as new. your software is corrupt. (not hacked or compromised)

the phone unlocks quickly if you are looking at the screen so its really hard to distinguish which is which.

I have already mentioned that but it went unnoticed.
