I am trying to back-up my iPhone 7 to my mac. I tried 2 different macs and different cables. But after ~ an hour, I get an error 'couldn't backup because iPhone disconnected'.
It seems to happen around the same time. Any thoughts?
PS: I did do a backup on iCloud with no errors. But I want to make sure and do a backup locally too.

The only remaining weak point is the Lightning port itself. You can carefully probe it for debris with a wood cocktail stick and even put a drop of alcohol on the lightning plug and move the plug in and out a few times. The data pins are not the same as charge pins so the fact you can still charge it is not relevant.
In the end you may need to should arrange a repair

I believe it's not a hardware issue. The iPhone remains connected in finder and xCode debugging. Also the error is too much timed. It also takes way too long to actually start backing up.
I think maybe more along the lines of a corrupted backup. I am going to delete it and try again.
